Maintenance and operation of the convectors

Operation

In order to benefit from correct operation, long-term trouble-free operation and maximum lifetime of convectors it is necessary to ensure regular maintenance:

  • before the heating season starts, we recommend removing dust from heat the exchanger using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment
  • any dirt on the trench of the convector only be removed with a damp cloth or alcohol based cleaner
  • do not use abrasive cleaners or chlorine-based detergents to clean the convectors
  • convectors work on the principle of air flow, so there needs to be a free space below the convector and the grille must not be covered.

 

Maintenance

In order to benefit from correct operation, long-term trouble-free operation and maximum lifetime of convectors it is necessary to ensure regular maintenance:

  • periodically (at least before and after the heating season) remove impurities from the convector (by vacuum or wiping)
  • remove any dirt from the fans and heat exchangers (by vacuum)
  • check the free flow of water from the bottom of the trench as per the design
  • in the case of prolonged inactivity (before heating season) examine the function of the individual modes of the impellor speeds
  • with wooden grilles ensure continued protection of the slats
  • in case of spilling water or other liquids onto the convector, switch off, vacuum and wipe dry

 

Recommended action if convector does not heat

In the event that after installation the floor convector does not work at all or performance is diminished, we recommend removing the cover grille of the convector, panels and examining the following:

  • installation and wiring of the convector (heat exchanger horizontally connected to the water supply, the fan motor connected to a power control unit)
  • supply water temperature at the inlet to the heat exchanger (the boiler, etc.).
  • operation of the air vent
  • circulation of the heating water in the system (check the operation of the pump, position control and shutoff valve)
  • convector control settings (thermostatic valve, thermostats or upper connecting regulatory elements)
  • connection and function of the impellor (incl power supply)
